Lower Columbia Affordable Housing Society and City of Rossland seeking building names for new City Hall/Affordable workforce housing building.

Rossland, BC – The Lower Columbia Affordable Housing Society (LCAHS) and the City of Rossland are pleased to welcome name suggestions from the public for the new City Hall & Affordable Workforce Housing building located at 1920 Third Avenue in Rossland.

Possible name suggestions should appeal to Rossland residents; be simple, distinctive, and recognizable; may convey a sense of place and celebrate the distinguishing characteristics of the neighbourhood or Rossland area; and should respect the community’s values, history, and culture, including those of the local and traditional Indigenous groups. Creativity is welcomed!

LCAHS and the City of Rossland will be accepting names between April 26 – May 20, 2022.

Suggestions will be accepted via the Contact Us section of the LCAHS website (LowerColumbiaHousing.ca/Contact) or in writing to:

LCAHS, PO Box 44, Trail, BC V1R 4L3.

LCAHS and the City of Rossland will review suggestions and work together to choose the new building name. There will be a joint announcement in mid-June.

When finished, the landmark building at 1920 Third Avenue will include the new Rossland City Hall, city offices, and community meeting spaces on the main floor as well as thirty-seven units of affordable workforce housing on the three floors above. This project was made possible with support from BC Housing, Columbia Basin Trust, and the Federation of Canadian Municipalities’ Green Municipal Fund delivered in partnership with the Government of Canada.
