News Release – Rossland Council Approves Updated Strategic Plan

Rossland, BC – The City of Rossland’s 2022-2026 Strategic Plan serves as the guiding framework for municipal governance and resource allocation. Recently, Rossland City Council approved an updated Strategic Plan following a comprehensive midterm review conducted in late 2024 and early 2025.

The revised plan reflects Council’s ongoing commitment to governance, infrastructure sustainability, and community engagement, while ensuring alignment with the City’s long-term visions and priorities. This midterm review provided an opportunity for Council to evaluate progress and refine priorities. As a result, several modifications have been incorporated to enhance the effectiveness of the City’s current strategic direction.

Key Updates to the Strategic Plan
Adjusting priority levels for multiple initiatives to reflect current needs and resource availability, specifically towards sustainable municipal infrastructure.
Revising various objectives to improve clarity and scope, particularly in areas related to recreation, climate action, and environmental stewardship.
Adding two (2) new initiatives that work to review and expand childcare accessibility in Rossland & investigate opportunities for enhancing riparian area protection.

The updated Strategic Plan continues to focus on six key priorities: Optimal Governance & Organizational Processes, Livable Growth & Development, Communication & Community Engagement, Sustainable Service Delivery, Recreation, Art, Culture & Heritage, and Climate Leadership & Environmental Stewardship.

These updates also align with the current development of the Draft 2025 Budget and 2025-2029 Financial Plan to ensure continuation of fiscal responsibility and effective resource allocation.

With the updated Strategic Plan in place, the City of Rossland remains committed to fostering a sustainable, well-governed, and resilient community. The plan will continue to serve as a foundation for decision-making and progress tracking over the last two years of this Council’s term of office.
