ROSSLAND, BC — “Altogether Inclusive” is this year’s theme for Heritage Week February 21-27. The theme in 2022 explores the many ways that heritage engagement requires creativity, as well as unique solutions and actions to encourage broad participation.
Annually, Heritage Week provides an extra opportunity to look for and celebrate the heritage that is all around us. The Rossland Heritage Commission would like you to share and recognize Rossland’s special artifacts from the past and post your interesting heritage-related finds to celebrate BC Heritage week.
Perhaps your recent renovation revealed an old newspaper in your wall? Your leaky foundation excavation unearthed a crystal door knob or an interesting glass bottle buried long-ago? Maybe you dug up the garden one spring and found a hidden cache of Victorian pottery? These items tell a story about the people who came before us and should be shared and celebrated.
“Gold, the precious metal, might have helped lay the metaphorical foundation of our town; however, it’s the physical foundations of your homes, properties and businesses that remain an important reminder of Rossland’s history and a true connection to the past. These are the treasures we have been left with.” Says Rossland’s Heritage Commission Chair, Michelle Fairbanks.

Heritage Commission is dedicated to preserving and celebrating Rossland’s rich local history. The Commission maintains a full Heritage Register that captures all the buildings and sites that have played significant role in the City’s history and continues to research and add to this register to ensure the ongoing capturing and preservation of the elements that make Rossland unique.
