Local General Election Information

Thinking of running for Council? Serving your community can be a rewarding experience. There are many good reasons to run for office—you might run to be actively involved in the local decision-making process, contribute your experience and knowledge to the community, address issues or lead change in your community.

Whether you are thinking of running for office or you care about electing the best candidates that will shape the future of your community, this free candidates-readiness workshop is for you. Ready to learn more? We’ve got you covered.
Workshop details:
  • When: August 24, 2022 @6.o0 p.m. | snacks provided
  • In-person | 445 – 13th Avenue, Castlegar
  • Online via Zoom castlegar.ca/workshop
The workshop is offered by City of Castlegar, City of Rossland, City of Nelson, British Columbia, Regional District of Central Kootenay, and Regional District of Kootenay Boundary and led by Christina Benty, former Mayor for the Town of Golden, from Strategic Leadership Solutions.

The City of Rossland is also offering opportunities for questions and discussions:
  • When: September 6, 2022
  • Pre-Regular Council Meeting  – starting at 5:00 p.m. til 6:00pm – Open forum for Q & A with Council and Senior Managers
  • Regular Meeting 6:00 pm – 7:30 p.m. (approximately)
  • Post Meeting informal gathering at the Steam Shovel (immediately following the regular meeting) from 7:45 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. (approximately)
