Located in the beautiful West Kootenay region of British Columbia, the City of Rossland is a progressive municipality of approximately 4,140 (2021 Census) known for its proximity to world-class outdoor recreation, heritage architecture and arts & culture atmosphere. Only four hours from Kelowna, two and a half hours from Spokane, WA and three kilometers from the base of Red Mountain Resort (within City limits), Rossland is rapidly growing into a first-class, all-seasons BC Resort Municipality.
We are seeking a dedicated, organized, and community‑focused individual to join our amazing team and become our next Manager of Recreation and Events. Under the general direction of the Chief Administrative Officer, this position’s key responsibilities include:
• Leading the planning, coordination, communications, and delivery of recreational programs and community events offered in/by the City for participants of all ages.
• Supporting coordination of community events, festivals, and seasonal activities.
• Managing facility bookings, schedules, and user group needs.
• Developing and monitors program budgets, contracts, and operational plans.
• Conducting program evaluations and make recommendations for improvement.
• Recruiting, trains, and supervises program staff and volunteers.
• Working collaboratively with local organizations, user groups, private entities, schools, clubs, and regional partners,
• Maintaining compliance with safety standards, policies, and municipal procedures.
• Representing the City on various provincial matters in relation to the Resort Municipalities Initiative (RMI) Program, and
• Increasing visibility of community organizations by promoting and raising awareness of all facilities, programs and activities offered in/by the community.
