April 2021 Council Connects Newsletter

ROSSLAND COUNCIL CONNECTS - April 2021 Issue #66

Message from Mayor Kathy:

As vaccines are rolling out, its important to distribute this information broadly. While vaccines are coming, please remain vigilent and practice Covid-19 precautions. Rosslanders and all of our local businesses have done an outstanding job keeping everyone safe, However, recently there have been a few cases locally. People are getting complacent and we can’t relax just yet. Please do your part now, so we can have a normal summer.

Vaccine distribution news: Interior Health is expeditiously rolling out the vaccination program in our area. Rossland’s vaccination location is in Trail. The ages for eligibility are dropping rapidly. First register, then make an appointment. Check out eligibility for your age group. https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/covid-19/vaccine/register. Or call the provincial line: 1-833-838-2323.

More information can be found on these helpful websites:  www.interiorhealth.ca,  http://covid-19.bccdc.ca. Also: https://immunizebc.ca/covid-19-vaccine-frequently-asked-questions. You can also find up-to-date links to Covid-19 information at www.Rossland.ca

Remember:  You will be asked for your legal name, birthday, postal code, personal health number (from your Care Card or the back of your driver’s license) and a contact email or telephone number. You will NOT be asked for any financial information. In BC the interval between first and second doses is 16 weeks. Evidence demonstrates that the first dose provides strong and effective results, protecting those who have been immunized. Taking this step will help more people receive their first dose, sooner and it is strongly supported by the science.

On a different topic, I have enjoyed my virtual visits to both grade 6 and grade 1 classes at RSS to talk about our Official Community Plan renewal project and answer their questions about municipal government. There is more than one future planner, chief administrative officer and mayor in those classrooms.
