Assessments

Each July, BC Assessment, a provincial agency, assesses the value of each piece of property in the province based on market values. Your property tax is based on this assessment.

Tax notices are sent in May and due by July 2. Any outstanding taxes after the July 2 deadline are subject to a 10% penalty. Home owner grants must also be claimed by the July 2 in order to avoid the 10% penalty.
